The amount of wine produced globally this year is expected to come in level with 2021, according to recent figures, although "severe drought and extreme heat" have played their parts as well.
The International Organisation of Vine & Wine (OIV) said last week that 2022 will be "the fourth consecutive year where the global production level can be considered as slightly below average". The data, which includes provisional numbers for 2021 and preliminary figures for this year, estimates that Australia fell markedly, by 18%, dropping into sixth place of wine-producing countries behind Chile
