A three-day conference dedicated to the rum industry has been lined up for next year.
‘The International Rum Summit’ will take place in Paris between 3 and 5 May. While the conference was initially scheduled to be held on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, the move to France, according to the show’s organisers, will “convey a worldwide influence to the event”.
“Representatives of organisations and public institutions from over 20 producing countries are expected to attend alongside stakeholders who make up the entire rum value chain,” said International Media Event Group.
As well as an exhibition area, the event will also host debates and presentations as well as networking opportunities. Day one will focus on government institutions, with the second day set to target rum manufacturers and distributors, before concluding with “informed” members of the public.
Full details of the conference can be found here.
Earlier this month, Brown-Forman lined up its entry into the rum segment through the pending acquisition of Venezuela-based Diplomático Rum. The purchase, for an undisclosed sum, is expected to complete in the next three months.
