The creation of a global growth officer position will see Bacardi shuffle its senior executive hand, with the group’s North America lead moving to take on the role.

The brand owner has announced today that the current president for the region, Pete Carr, will assume his new post on 1 April. Filling Carr’s shoes will be Tony Latham, who has been group CFO since August 2019.
Meanwhile, Albert Vila Tarres will take up Bacardi’s financial reins, bringing to a close his five years as CFO for North America.
According to the company, the global growth officer role includes responsibility for “commercial excellence and strategy, route-to-market models, digital commerce and on-trade relationships”. Among Carr’s achievements during his eight years as North America head that prompted his promotion was the “propelled investment in digital commerce in the region to power this growing channel for spirits sales”.
While Latham will be based in Florida, Carr and Vila Tarres will move to Bacardi’s corporate headquarters in Bermuda. The moves are being timed to coincide with the start of the company’s fiscal 2024.
Bacardi has another senior change to navigate in the coming months after CMO John Burke announced last month that he will retire at the end of 2022.
